Parish Registers of the "Ev-luth. Landeskirche Hannover"
Church district Emsland-Bentheim

The whole area of Emsland was originally Catholic, the Grafschaft Bentheim Reformed and Catholic. This means, that the Lutherans in this area were only a small minority. Many parishes were only founded after WWII, when Lutherans from other regions moved in. Until 1842 only one Lutheran Church, the one in Lingen existed in this region. You might find some (very few) Lutherans in the Catholic and in the Reformed parish registers until the 19th Century.
