Parish Registers of the "Ev-luth. Landeskirche Hannover"
Church district Emden

Please note that the reformed church (Evangelisch-reformierte Kirche in Nordwestdeutschland) has been the dominating church in the Emden area. (9 Lutheran parishes and 38 reformed parishes) Despite of Emden and Borkum after 1900 all inhabitants belonged to the parish were they lived in, undependent of the fact which denomination (confession) they personally belonged to. This was the fact in almost all areas in East Frisia (excluding the cities). Loquard, Petkum, Pewsum and Woquard were "Lutheran islands" in a reformed region, while Marienhafe, Osteel and Siegelsum are locateded just south of the Norden area which is almost 100% Lutheran.
